Gabriela Recinos

Spanish Specialist

Gaby became an educator to create safe and engaging spaces for students to explore the world. Having lived in three countries and various states, Gaby believes exposure to cultural similarities and differences builds empathy. She knows our future leaders need to start building a global perspective at a young age.

Gaby earned a B.A. in Spanish and International Studies at The University of Michigan. Go Blue! She found her passion for education during a course in which she taught 3rd-grade Spanish Immersion at a local elementary school. She earned a M.S. in World Language and ESOL education at The University of Tennessee. After graduating, Gaby taught Dual Language Immersion in Spanish and ESOL for 5 years. Fun Fact: Gaby also worked in Marketing and Communications for 5 years.

In 2023 she moved to California with her son Nico to be closer to family. When she's not teaching, Gaby enjoys hiking, yoga, and watching movies with Nico. She loves learning and teaching about her Guatemalan and African-American heritage.

Gaby is excited to work with the wonderful staff at PS1 to continue to evolve the Spanish program. ¡Bienvenidos al mundo de español!
