Kayla Estrada

Teacher

At PS1 since 2017

Kayla was born and raised in Minot, North Dakota, but her adventurous spirit soon led her to bigger cities. After meeting her husband in 2007, the two moved to Chicago, where Kayla earned her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from National Louis University. Since then, she's spent the past 15 years immersed in teaching and learning alongside students. In 2015, Kayla and her family made the move to Los Angeles, where she taught at other independent schools before finding her home at PS1. Now entering her ninth year at the school, Kayla is excited to continue co-teaching in the Olders' West Oak classroom while also stepping into a new role as PS1's Imaginative Inquiry Coach. She is passionate about the power of imaginative learning and looks forward to inspiring curiosity and creativity schoolwide - both in her own classroom and beyond. When she's not teaching, Kayla enjoys hiking new trails, visiting National Parks, relaxing at the beach, coaching softball, and spending time with her two children, Kash and Mia.
